Tournament Results from Streamsong!
Fifty-one golfers took on the iconic Streamsong Resort and its three top-notch courses - Red, Blue and Black. We had perfect weather for the trip after Hurricane Milton tried to keep us from visiting. There were very few signs of the storm at the Resort, but plenty on the drive to get there.
The courses were each very different, but all were in great shape. We had some stellar play from a few in the group, with Bill Ansley and Jack Karaszewski’s son Brian each breaking par one day. Those playing to their handicap for two days were Amy Magee (-8), Jeff DeHaven (-4), Rick Hartbrodt (0), and Kathy Reynolds (+1). These courses are not your typical Florida tracks – they incorporate actual elevation changes resulting from the historical phosphate mining activities at the property. The scenery and wildlife were plentiful, with several alligators and snapping turtles lurking around at the Blue and Red Courses, and deer and osprey visible daily on the drive between the Lodge and golf courses. And of course, several black birds were busy trying to help clean out the carts of any leftover lunches and snacks.
The forecaddies did their best to control the lost balls and to help read the tough undulating greens, especially at the Black Course where many of the greens were so large they had multiple sprinkler heads located on the greens! The golf staff was excellent in helping me with scoring and managing the closest-to-the-pin contests. Excellent chef-selected reception/dinner menus, along with tasty and reasonably-priced breakfast and lunch offerings at the courses, rounded out a fabulous experience. This was truly a great place to host a golf event.
